JASON BRITSCHGE

I was born in Syracuse, NY and lived there for 8 years before moving to Hilton Head Island, SC. Growing up, I played multiple sports, including baseball, football, and basketball. Participating in sports has taught me the fundamental
values that I try to live by, which are: hard work, discipline, dedication, and sacrifice.
 

During my sophomore year of high school, I decided to turn my main focus to basketball and give up playing football and baseball. It was a huge sacrifice, but doing so gave me the opportunity to put in the extra time to improve my basketball skill set. I have spent countless hours in the gym with various trainers and my dad, working on various skills such as ball handling, shooting, agility and strength training. Although it was a big commitment, I have enjoyed every moment of it because I get to work on and play the sport I love most.
 

I am currently taking a gap year to focus completely on getting my skills to the next level. I was given the opportunity to play at Lakeview Basketball Academy, which is a postgraduate school in Umatilla, Florida. I am being coached by former Pro/Division 1 coach Douglas Leichner. He is showing me what it takes to play at the next level, and I am enjoying every moment: from our four workouts a day to traveling with my team in a cramped bus to away games.

My dad has been the most influential person in my basketball journey. He has always been there for me since the first time I picked up a ball. I appreciate the time and commitment he has made coaching me, rebounding for me when I am doing workouts, or traveling with me to basketball tournaments every weekend during my AAU seasons.

 

My dream is to play basketball at the college level. I am looking forward to pushing my body and mind to new limits and developing my game to my highest potential. At a minimum, it will allow me the opportunity to play the sport I love for an additional four years.
